We recently vacationed in Pacific City, Oregon. It was our first time visiting the Oregon coast, and it was a beautiful trip.
We stayed north of Pacific City at Hart’s Camp in Cape Kiwanda, and we had the unique opportunity of staying in an airstream trailer onsite that was permanently docked in the camp. There are also RV sites available, where some friends of ours were staying. And some other friends of ours rented a rustic cabin on site too.
Where to stay in Pacific City, Oregon:
Hart’s Camp has several airstreams on site- some smaller like ours, and some were larger. Check out our adorable airstream. It was outfitted with a queen bed, dining area, kitchen set-up and bathroom. It had a deck right outside our front door with walled-off yard, picnic table and a fire pit. Our airstream had a full kitchen, so we were able to make breakfast quesadillas in the mornings and sipped on whiskey sours in the evenings.
Here was an outdoor shower that was available to us right next to our airstream. It was completely walled-in and private. We had an indoor shower too, but this outdoor shower was so fun!
Here’s a peek at the inside of our airstream. It wasn’t huge, but it was perfect for just the two of us.
There was wood available for our fire pit, which we used every night for making s’mores! They even sell s’mores kits at the office.
And there were bikes available to us too. What a fun place to camp!
The location of this place is ideal. It’s right across from the beach. You can literally walk across the street. And there is a market and a few places to eat right there too.
The Pelican Brewing Company is on the beach across the street. We took advantage of visiting the brewery, and sampled their beer, cider and poke appetizer.
This is the famous Cape Kiwanda Rock, just offshore. And that’s my honey.
There is a fancy hotel (Headlands Coastal Lodge and Spa) right on the beach, and we decided to get dressed up and have dinner at their restaurant: Meridian.
As you can see, the food is really amazing. We focused on ordering mostly seafood. The scallops were especially good! You can ask for a water view. It’s very pretty. It’s much pricier than the casual restaurants around town, but we made it a special night.
Here is Cape Kiwanda Rock in the daytime. The Oregon coast has pretty warm weather June through August and a bit into September too. It can be rainy or gloomy other times of the year. We had blue sky!
The beach is lovely for a walk. There are some neat tide pools to explore at low tide. You’ll see the fishermen zoom onto the beach with their boats.
One day we drove North to Tillamook, Oregon for a tour of Tillamook Creamery. Tillamook is 23 miles from Cape Kiwanda (a 30-minute drive).Their cheese tour was sold out, so we went to an ice cream making class instead. We tasted a LOT of their ice cream flavors. Our favorites were Campfire Peanut Butter Cup, Mudslide and Marionberry Pie. Honestly, they were all so good!! Then we cruised through the Tillamook market and bought a ton of cheeses and goodies to bring home with us.
We also took a drive South and went down to Neskowin, 11 miles from Cape Kiwanda (a 17 minute, beautiful drive). It’s a cute beach community to explore. On the way back, we stopped for seafood at Sportsman’s Pub n’ Grub, a dive bar with pretty decent food. It doesn’t really cater to tourists, so you just have to know about it!
I hope I gave you a good peek into where to stay in Pacific City, Oregon! We stayed three nights. I’d recommend the airstream experience at Cape Kiwanda to everyone. It was so fun to be “camping,” but not have to do anything to set it all up! If you’re not a camper, the hotels in the area are nice too. We’ve had a home in central Oregon since 2020, and we’re finally started to venture out and explore the Northwest!
