The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Dinner’s Ready
This recipe comes from the newest cookbook by Ree Drummond: The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Dinner’s Ready- 112 Fast and Fabulous Recipes for Slightly Impatient Home Cooks. I love all of Ree’s books, and this one is no exception. These are some great, family-friendly recipes for entertaining and every day!
Here are a few recipes I’d love to make from the book:
- pickled red onions
- potato nachos
- mushroom Swiss lettuce wraps
- baked goat cheese pasta
- jalapeno popper quesadillas
- chicken pot pie skillet
- family style rib-eye sandwiches
- cast iron hamburger pizza
- cheeseburger bowls
- meatloaf patties
- faster funeral potatoes
- butterscotch budino

🛒 Ingredients Needed:
- Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
- mayonnaise
- hot sauce
- deli roast beef
- salted butter
- Dijon mustard
- lemon pepper
- Worcestershire sauce

👍 Step One!
Without separating them, slice the rolls in half and place the bottom half in a 9×13-inch baking dish.

✏️ How to make Hot Hawaiian Beef Sandwiches:
*The complete, printable recipe is in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Preheat the oven to 350℉.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise and a desired amount of hot sauce (to taste) and stir until smooth.
- Spread the mixture evenly over the bottom half of the rolls in the dish. Lay the roast beef on top of the spread. Lay the cheese slices over the roast beef, overlapping them as you go. Place the other half of the rolls on top and set the pan aside.
- In a small saucepan, combine the butter, lemon pepper, mustard and Worcestershire. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it’s melted and bubbly, then spread it evenly over the tops of the rolls in the pan.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake the sandwiches for 12 minutes. Then remove the foil, and bake until the tops are deep golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes more. Run a knife between the sandwiches to cut through the slices of beef before serving.

➡️ Tips and Substitutions:
- Substitute sliced deli ham for roast beef.
- For an Italian version, use pepperoni, salami and provolone.
- I like to make several pans of these for a party. I prep them a few hours ahead of time in “throw-away” pans. Then they’re easy to pop into the oven before your party and during the party too. It’s easy clean up with the throw-away pans!

✔️ What to serve with these sandwiches:
I like to have these displayed at a party with plenty of appetizers like chicken wings and bean dip. Also make your favorite potato salad, macaroni salad and brownies for dessert!
