chicken wings and knife showing how to trim

How to trim chicken wings:

Sometimes you can buy wings already cut up at the store.  They’ll be more expensive that way. When you buy whole wings, you can cut them yourself. This means they need to be trimmed in three parts. All you’ll need is a pair of sharp kitchen scissors or a sharp knife. If you stretch out the whole wing, you will see that there are three parts to the wing (the wing tip, the wingette and the drumstick). When you stretch out the wing, you should be able to see the three joints.  Cut off the tip to separate it from the wingette.  You can discard the tips (or put them in a zip baggie and freeze them for making chicken stock at a later time). And then cut between the wingette and the drumstick. You’ll use the wingettes and drumsticks to make this honey glazed chicken wings recipe.

How to make Honey Glazed Chicken Wings:

It’s incredibly easy! All you’ll do is combine the honey glaze ingredients and pour it over the chicken wings in a casserole dish.  Then you’ll bake the wings for an hour until the chicken is cooked through.  That’s it!

The sauce will caramelize a bit while baking. It’s a delicious, syrupy honey flavored sauce!

Made this recipe last night with Bone-in Skinless Chicken Thighs. I used 12 thighs and increased ingredients by another 1/2 (1 1/2 times ingredients). I also added 3 Tbs AP Flour to ingredients and blended all in blender until smooth. Roasted thighs at 375 F for 20 minutes, then drained the juices from pan before covering with sauce (did not want to dilute sauce). Roasted at 400 F for another 20 minutes, until internal temperature was 165 F, and they were totally carmalized glazed! Pure PERFECTION!!!

    Family loved them!!!
    Thanks for sharing this recipe!

The recipe was great. I only had one problem. I couldn’t get the glaze to stick to the chicken

    1. Troy says:

What I do is pour the sauce over the wings like instructed, but about halfway through, transfer to a cookie sheet lined with foil and flip them. This gets them caramelized on both sides without the bottom getting soggy. I put the casserole dish back in on another shelf to keep it hot, then serve the wings with the sauce on the side for dipping.

I cooked the wings then boiled down the sauce separetly to thicken. Nice recipe.
