Today, I’m sharing with you one of my favorite dessert recipes of the summer. I created this sweet Blueberry Dessert Bruschetta recipe.

Blueberry Dessert Bruschetta

These Blueberry Dessert Bruschetta treats have a sugar and cinnamon puff pastry base, and then they’re topped with sweetened cream cheese and fresh blueberries. I can see adding strawberries too to make it red, white and blue for patriotic holidays! I know it’s a stretch to call it “bruschetta,” but it’s very much created like the tomato bruschetta that we all know and love (in a different form).

✏️ How to make Blueberry Dessert Bruschetta:

*The complete, printable recipe with all ingredients and instructions is at the end of this post.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Beat egg and water in a small bowl with a fork. Mix sugar and cinnamon in another small bowl.
  2. Unfold the pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Brush the pastry with the egg mixture. Sprinkle with the sugar cinnamon mixture to within ½ inch of the edge. Starting at a long side, roll up like a jelly roll. Press the seam to seal. Cut pastry roll into 20 (½ inch) slices. Place the slices, cut-side down, onto 2 baking sheets.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown. Gently flatten the hot pastries with a spatula. Let cool completely on baking sheets on wire racks.

  1. In a medium bowl, use electric mixer to combine cream cheese, lemon juice and powdered sugar. Mix until smooth. Add whipping cream to thin out the mixture. Mix until creamy and well combined. Add additional whipping cream, if needed, to create a spreadable consistency.
  2. To assemble dessert bites spread a tablespoon of the sweetened cream cheese mixture onto each of the baked puff pastry rounds. Top with fresh blueberries. Garnish with mint, if desired. Serve immediately.

➡️ Tips and Substitutions:

  • Try substituting another berry for the blueberries. I think raspberries would work well!
  • Using strawberries with fresh basil would be delicious too.
  • Pressing the seam to seal before baking is important. That will ensure that the pieces will stay round.

❤️ What I Love About This Recipe:

  1. I love that this is a super different kind of dessert recipe.
  2. It’s awesome that you can make little “rounds” out of Puff Pastry to make a dessert like this.
  3. It’s an unexpected kind of dessert that people won’t be expecting when you serve these at a party!

How far in advance can these be put together? I would love to take to a dinner party but really don’t want to assemble them at their home. Eek

    1. Lori Lange says:

You can definitely assemble them at home and take them to the dinner party- just do it right before you go!

  2. Edie says:

These look amazing. I think if you were short on time you could also fold the fresh berries into the cream cheese mix and just add the mint leaves.

  3. Ann says:

These look perfect for a baby shower sweet table I will be doing. Do you think the puff pastry base can be made a few days ahead of time?

    1. Lori Lange says:

Yes, a couple of days ahead should be fine. Just keep them in a sealed zip bag.

What a beautiful and dainty dessert for summer! I love that no utensils are needed to eat these bite size treats! Perfect for parties and I love the fresh blueberries, tangy cream cheese & hint of lemon. The flavors just go so well together!

This looks great. I’m having a lot of fun with bruschetta lately. I made a really fun brunch bruschetta recipe from Hungry Girl earlier this summer for guests — it was a bit hit!
