Asparagus is one of the most favorite vegetable side dishes at our house! There are so many ways to prepare it- roasted, sautéed, grilled and steamed. We most often steam it and eat it with mayonnaise. That’s what happens when that’s how your Mom always served it! Asparagus is not just a side dish though. You can even add asparagus to enchiladas or pasta and other things.

How to make Drunken Asparagus:

The complete, printable recipe is at the end of this post. You’ll need a pan to make this recipe. I like to use a skillet since it’s easiest to spread the asparagus into a more even layer. Since the sizes of your asparagus will vary, a skillet will accommodate the variety of sizes.

Bring salted water to a boil in your pan. Cook asparagus in the salted water until they are tender- about 2 minutes. Remove the asparagus from the water and let drain.

Whisk the rest of the ingredients together to make the honey garlic sauce. Drizzle the sauce over the asparagus to create Drunken Asparagus. Stir a bit until the asparagus are coated with the sauce. Serve.

What part of the asparagus should you not eat:

Don’t eat the ends of fresh asparagus. They will be too tough to eat, and they won’t taste good.
