If you’re looking for another easy and delicious recipe for Super Bowl Sunday, here it is: Blue Cheese Buffalo Bites.
Blue Cheese Buffalo Bites
This is a recipe using sweet Hawaiian bread. The combination of the sweet bread with blue cheese and buffalo sauce is quite delicious! It’s an easy recipe to make.
You may already be familiar with the rolls, but you can also find sweet Hawaiian bread in the bread aisle of your local market. King’s Hawaiian makes it, but you may spot another brand or two that makes it as well. You can use any brand. For this recipe, I use the sliced bread in a much different way.
🛒Ingredients needed:
- King’s Hawaiian sliced bread
- buffalo hot sauce
- blue cheese
- wooden toothpicks
✏️How to make Blue Cheese Buffalo Bites:
*The complete, printable recipe with all ingredients and instructions is at the end of this post.
-
Preheat the oven to 400℉. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat mat.
-
Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut the edges (crusts) off of each slice of bread. Use a rolling pin to roll each slice of bread very flat (like a tortilla). Brush each slice of rolled bread with the buffalo sauce and sprinkle with the blue cheese crumbles. Roll up each slice tightly. Use a bread knife to cut 6 slices from each roll-up. Secure eat cut piece with a toothpick and place on the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and place on a serving platter. Serve immediately.
➡️Recipe Tips:
- MAKE AHEAD TIP: Prepare the bites and place them on the baking sheet. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 or 3 hours. Remove plastic wrap before baking.
- Gorgonzola is a type of Italian blue cheese, so is also great for this recipe.
- I like to spread these out on two cookie sheets and bake them one after the other. That way I can have piping hot Blue Cheese Buffalo Bites coming hot out of the oven twice!
✔️What to serve with Blue Cheese Buffalo Bites:
- I like to serve these with Triple Onion Dip and Baked Jalapeño Poppers.
- For those with a sweet tooth, Snickerdoodle Blondies are always a hit.
- I’m more of a wine drinker, but my husband loves these with a nice IPA (India Pale Ale).
★How to Store:
I’d be shocked if you have any leftover to store, but in the unlikely event you do, story them covered in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days. Gently reheat in the microwave (but don’t expect them to maintain that bit of crispness they have when freshly made).
❤️Why I love this recipe:
- I love that when they’re all baked-up, the blue cheese melts into the bread and they turn out a little bit crispy. Delicious!
- People are always a little surprised by this recipe. I really like that it’s a little unusual and anyone who liked Buffalo Wings is going to love it!
- The spicy sauce and tangy cheese combination is one of my favorites.

You have the best ideas, ever! This is so creative! Love the little bites!
Lori, I love this idea! The possibilities are endless. Thanks for the recipe!
Lori,
These look delicious! Great idea, so you don’t have to make the dough for the bites. Besides, who doesn’t love squished bread. I do that all the time.

King’s Hawaiian bread is definitely dreamy! Recipe Boy has good taste. 🙂 I just never saw it before in sliced loaves…so convenient for recipes like this one. Flattening bread slices for French toast rollups has been ‘in vogue’, so why not make savory pinwheels? Very creative, Lori! This appetizer looks truly scrumptious and perfect for the Super Bowl. Already pinned this morning, but will pin again this evening!
Never seen loaves like that! We make buffalo chicken sliders with the rolls tho’. Yum! Don’t blame RB no one can resist it!!!
Yum! Love flattening the bread. I am going to make sliders on the little Kings Hawaiian rolls!
I love King’s Hawaiian bread — and it must be so delicious with the spicy buffalo sauce and blue cheese! Great little appetizer. 🙂
I had no idea they made King’s Hawaiian bread in slices now! I’ve always bought the rolls! Wow, thanks! 🙂
Flattened bread!? So creative! Buffalo anything is the king of Game day food and paired with blue cheese? Hello perfection. Plus, it’s on a stick…so. much. fun!
So creative, Lori! Everything tastes that much better when it’s either mini food, or served on a stick, too 🙂
