This Apple Bacon Salad is one of my favorite salad recipes ever! There are very few ingredients in this salad, but that doesn’t seem to matter at all. It’s really delicious with a simple, homemade lemony dressing.

Use turkey bacon, as the recipe indicates, if you’re watching your calories. A lot of people don’t like turkey bacon, so if you prefer the real thing, by all means use real bacon!

Don’t be afraid of the garlic messing with the flavor of the apples. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. This is a delicious salad recipe!

Apple Bacon Salad in a bowl

Many years ago I was visiting my sister one summer, and I plowed through her recipe cards. This apple bacon salad was one that she had “starred,” and when I asked her about it she told me that she makes it all the time. So I had to try it. I’m glad I did. This is a super easy salad recipe to make, and the combination of flavors is surprisingly delicious!

Ingredients

DRESSING:

  • cup freshly grated Parmesan
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon dry mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground pepper

SALAD:

  • 1 large garlic clove
  • 1 medium bunch green leaf lettuce
  • 1 medium bunch red leaf lettuce
  • 2 medium red delicious apples, skin on and cubed
  • 1 large lemon
  • ½ pound turkey bacon, cooked until crisp (can use regular bacon)
  • croutons (oprional)

Instructions

MAKE THE DRESSING:

  • Mix together dressing ingredients in lidded jar or tupperware bowl. Shake well and refrigerate.

ASSEMBLE THE SALAD:

  • Cut the garlic clove in half and rub the inside of the salad bowl (this works best with a wooden salad bowl).
  • Wash and dry the lettuce leaves and tear into bite sized pieces. Place lettuce and apples in bowl. Juice the lemon and pour over the top of the salad/apple mix. Crumble bacon on top.
  • Toss with the chilled dressing. Croutons are optional, but delicious.

I just got a great deal on bacon ends and pieces. I know it’s not turkey bacon but I will try it wit it this time at least. I was looking for a new, and different, salad recipe. This sounds like just the thing. Can’t wait to try it.

Apples and bacon don’t seem a perfect match at the first glance. But this recipe is awesome. I can’t wait to try it.
