Today I’m sharing a cocktail recipe that I had for the first time while traveling in Italy: Aperol Spritz
As I traveled about with Insight Vacation’s Luxury Gold Tour of Italy… I kept seeing these orange cocktails everywhere- literally everywhere! The Aperol Spritz seems to be a very popular choice of the Italians.
Aperol is a an orange-colored alcohol that tastes of sweet and bitter oranges + herbs. You should be able to find it among the liqueurs in the liquor department of any market.
Aperol is “technically” an aperitif (an alcoholic drink that you consume before a meal). But one night after dinner with our tour group, we headed to the hotel bar for yet another delightful “tour surprise”… and I finally had the opportunity to try an Aperol Spritz. I was hooked! When I came home from Italy, I scribbled some instructions down on a piece of paper for my husband… and he re-produced this Italian drink for us (Prosecco + Aperol + club soda). It’s a new favorite of mine!

So pretty!!
Those drinks were fantastic on the trip, Lori. So glad that you re-created it … I’m going to make this summer for sure!
This is one seriously beautiful cocktail. It looks like the perfect cocktail for summer.
This looks like a must-try!
I’ve never had this drink either but I would take a trip to Italy just to try it! But since I don’t have a trip to Italy booked, I will definitely have to try your recipe in the meantime. Cheers!
Tell Brian I am happy to come try his drink!!
Look forward to trying this one soon. I’ll pretend I’m in Italy while I sip. 😉
I just had my first Aperol Spritz last week in Paris! I kept seeing the ads everywhere and had heard about them, so my lovely hostess, Jill from Mad About Macarons had her husband whip some up! Love them! Sharing on FB and Twitter!
This sounds so good! I have never tried an aperol before, but you are convincing me that I should try.
So nice to see this!!! Of course, speaking from experience, I’d recommend NOT having four of them at any given time….
lol, they can sneak up on you. Especially if you have four 🙂
