These Hot Cocoa Rice Krispie Treats are totally delicious, chocolate flavored Krispie treats with additional marshmallows mixed in!
Hot Cocoa Rice Krispie Treats
I think we can all agree that traditional Rice Krispie treats are pretty much the best dessert ever. I’ve added a bit of chocolate before by making Butterfinger Rice Krispie treats. And those are amazing too. But these hot cocoa Rice Krispie treats are a chocolate lover’s dream. They’re supremely chocolatey and wonderful.

✏️ How to make Hot Cocoa Rice Krispie Treats:
*The complete, printable recipe is in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Spray a 9×13-inch pan with nonstick spray.
- In a medium saucepan over medium-heat, melt the butter. Lower the heat to low, add the large marshmallows, and stir until completely melted.
- Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and chocolate, stirring until melted. Add the cereal; stir until evenly coated. Let cool for a couple minutes, then stir in the tiny marshmallows and stir to evenly distribute.
- Scoop the mixture into the prepared pan and press to spread it out to fill the pan and gently compact the treats. Cut into 15 bars.
➡️ Tips and Substitutions:
- Use chocolate extract (available online) instead of vanilla extract for extra-chocolatey treats!
- It’s okay to substitute another type of chocolate (milk or dark) for the semisweet.
- The dehydrated mini marshmallows may be left out of the recipe, if you’d like.
- Drizzle some melted chocolate on top to make these even more chocolate-themed!
