Sesame Balsamic Tuna

Fresh tuna is one of those things that is usually ordered at a nice seafood restaurant. But if you have access to good, fresh tuna at your local market, then it’s easy enough to make and enjoy at home too. This recipe is (what my husband likes to call) restaurant quality. It’s the kind of tuna that you might find on a fine dining restaurant menu!

Where can you find good, fresh tuna?

A seafood market is the best place to find the best seafood. But you may be surprised that you can sometimes find pretty good fish at your local market too. Whole Foods is always an excellent choice for good seafood. It might be a little more expensive there, but it’s definitely worth it.

➡️Recipe Tips:

  • Always be careful not to overcook tuna. You can always put it back on the grill if it’s not done to your liking. Cooking too long makes the fish dry.
  • You can use any type of mushrooms you like. I used small portobello mushrooms.
  • Be sure to serve this fresh off the grill!

✔️What to serve with Sesame Balsamic Tuna:

  • Tuna is a pretty filling protein to eat for dinner. And the mushroom sauce is rich and hearty and delicious. So I think it’s appropriate to serve with a Simple Side Salad.
  • That’s all you need unless you’re craving a carb like Brown Butter Rice or Lemon and Herb Roasted New Potatoes
  • A warm loaf of sourdough and a glass of wine are also perfect (and simple) accompaniments.

❤️Why I love this recipe:

  1. You don’t seem many recipes especially for serving only two like this one, making it perfect an at home “date night.”
  2. Fresh tuna can be pricey, so it’s nice to make at home and not have to pay the additional costs added by restaurants.
  3. The flavor combination of sesame oil and balsamic vinegar in that sauce is incredible.
